Well, today I bought myself a new computer (or at least the parts to fit it together).
I have, however, run into a problem.
When I power up, the moniter will not activate itself, and I get no picture.
I have a Radeon VE 64mb graphics card in the AGP slot (but I have tried it with my old Voodoo 3 as well), and everything is plugged in as it should be.
I have put this problem down to one of two things: First, the AGP slot on the mother board (a ABIT KR7A-RAID) is messed up. This would mean I would have to try to get a replacement board.
Second: A friend of a friend commented that he had the same problem, and when he switched over power supplies, it worked fine. So I'm thinking that maybe even with 300W of power, it isn't enough...

Anyways, any idea would be welcome as I am damned close to commiting genocide on any goddamned computer salesmen that come near me.

Is the monitor plugged in to a power source? (socket or computer?)
Is It plugged into your graphics cards port?
Is it plugged into your motherboards monitor port?
Are you sure the monitor works?

i cant be bothered to look it up, but does the radeon pull 3.3v or 1.5v because some boards will only supply 1.5volts to the AGP slot, meaning only 1.5v cards will work (Nforce chipset and any P4 chipset are two such examples of mobos being this crap)

Umm...what kind of RAM?  If you're running 4 memory cards (DIMMS) they will probably need to be REGISTERED memory.  If there are less than two you'll be OK so long as the memory isnt cheap rubbish.  Id recommend Crucial or Mushkin as the best- mushkin is technically better but crucial is easier to get hold of and based in the UK.

Tried your old card in the new mobo?
Tried clearing the CMOS before booting up?

Goddamn i hate nvidia.  The thing is most people cant see past the framerate scores.

Probably the MB then - or at least the AGP slot. Try to scrounge up an old PCI video card and see if that'll work.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Did you test the power supply to be sure its working?  Did you flip the switch on the back of the PS to make sure its actually on? (some have them, some don't.)  Take a voltmeter to each molex and berg connector (the connectors that power your hard drives, floppies, and CD-ROMS/DVD-ROMS/CD-RWs) and make sure you're getting atleast 5V from the red wire and 12V from the yellow wire. (black is ground)  If you're getting voltage there then the PS works.

As in 'refuses to turn on' or 'turns on, but shows no picture'?

Either way, check connections.
Also, in Soft Menu III (BIOS) you can increase I/O Voltage. Might help.

I'm pretty sure it's the M/Board now, and I'm getting a replacement delivered tommorrow.
Apparently one of my friends has handled 6, and 4 of them were faulty in some way or another.
