Texturing in 3ds max
ive been attempting to try to texture again using 3DS as Truespace makes my blood boil and lith unwrap is still very basic in its capabilites, but ive run into some problems.

I first tried using the uv unwrap tool to texture a turret on a ship im working on, everything went well untili noticed the texture wasnt appearing in the viewport.

i tried many thiongs but for whatever reason, the changes i made in the unwrap tool didnt show up. Then i tried using the basic method of texturing by dragging a material onto the object (turret) but i got a little symbol withh the circle with a line through it, and i cannot figure out for the life of me, why this is not working. The object was originaly a .obj that i opened for texturing in 3ds
Put this in your profile if you know someone who is fighting, has survived, or has died from an awp no scope.

just like seventies goofballs
he's waiting on last calls
well listen method man
'cause if you leave on the last line
don't leave on the ground kind
born just a little too slow

Re: Texturing in 3ds max
It may not be a bad ide to convert the object to editable poly as it'll probably have errors from the conversion process that need fixing (verts that need welding etc).
In the material editor (shortcut "M") there is a blue 'n' white checker box. Click it otherwise you're material won't show in the viewport.
