Nuke is right on the money. If you're posting on this board, it's safe to say your standard of living would be too much for the planet to handle if everyone lived like you. Fun little exercise: Go to one of those eco-calculator sites that allows you to calculate your ecological footprint on the world, and how many Earths it would take to support humanity living at your standard. It's a real eye-opener to realise that it would take
four ****ing Earths to have everyone living like me.
Maybe once we colonise Gleise 517c we can get extravagant about bringing everyone up to the same standard of living. But until then, some people need to say poor.
