Well not yet, but...
Each modeling window can have it's own background image - so you will need 2 extra modeling windows. That way you can have one dedicated to top, side and front  ( Ctrl-arrow to make each full screen - toggle)

Re: schematics in blender
well theres something you can try:

create planes facing whatever direction you want a certain schematic to face, then UV map them with the schematic.

Ive never modelled with schematics so I have no idea if it will work :P
Yeah, I know you were waiting for a very nice sig, in which I was quoting some very famous scientist or philosopher... guess what?!? I wont indulge you...

Why, you ask? What, do I look like a Shivan to you?!?

Same way - Either at the top, bottom or side.

It does work - except when you go into wireframe mode to move verticies and the picture disappears.

Re: schematics in blender
that shouldnt happen if the planes are different objects i think

Re: schematics in blender
Yeah, in Max at least you only put the object you're working on in wireframe, the planes will stay textured.  And topgun, feel free to drop by the chatroom for help too, at least general advice on the model you're working on.
