Flaming Sword - W T F?
So I'm going through the campaign on a slightly higher difficulty (medium, because I suck at flight sims).

For some reason Flaming Sword is now a hell of a lot harder. Regardless of whether I try to just outrun the shivans back to the corvette or bring my wingmen for cover, the shivans wipe out my wingmen and me in about thirty seconds.

Uh, advice?

Flaming Sword is very buggy, and it's easy to screw it up.  And if you play at a higher difficulty, you run a higher risk of breaking it.

What I do is order Alpha to protect the Renenet, close to within targeting distance of the Shivans and dual-fire Harpoons at one of them, then turn around and run back to the corvette.  That usually works.

Oh, and use the Tauret.  Its durability comes in handy here.

How the hell will I outrun the 11 shivan fighters after my blood in a Tauret?

EDIT: Wow, outrunning 11 shivan fighters after my bloodin a Tauret is easier than I thought.

Often over-looked fact about bombers: They usually have large AB power reserves.

What Goober said. Use Harpoons and a durable craft. Normally, even I use the Tauret in that mission, even if I prefer maneuverability over durability. There are simply some situations that compel you to change your preferences.

And don't forget that Vasudan interceptors are more fragile than Terran ones.

I already announced my retirement twice, yet here I am. If I bring up that topic again, don't believe a word.

it's a little more harder but what i would do is with an interceptor is i see them and i back off at max, after that i then keep my wings at the renenet and when the flak turrets are in range, i turn right around and fly erratic into their fire, and when sufficiently in range i fire my aspect seekers, i then immediately change targets to the next nearest and do the same and after attacking 4 ships i order my wings to engaged. i usually have about 2 wing men left over.

with the tauret, i fly directly into them firing everything i've got i then pull backwith my shields to maximum on the rear and after back in turret range, i get that support ship in and order my wings to fire away, after the rearmament i then head back in and use my wing men as decoys so i can tear them up. i usally have about a wing of ships in tact but heavily damaged..
This is my signature.

You can beat it on Insane. You just have to stay near the corvette and pull evasive rolls for about 5 minutes straight until all the bad guys are dead. Just pick something that can move and turn fast because you won't be doing a lot of shooting back.

It's like Lion at the Door: :v: thought, "hey, let's just do OMGZ NINE ASTAROTHS VS A1! HAHA! Oh... he can just hide behind the Orion anyway. But it's not like we care about mission balancing." So you really aren't meant to stay and fight.
