At first I was surprised all our answers were so similar...
Then I remembered this is a forum based around a Sci-Fi space sim that deals with 3 alien races.
But, I didn't save a copy of what I sent so I can't post it. I know some of my reasoning differed a bit on the 'why.'
2. Sophisticated
2a. (Why) Basically I considered statistics, one life-bearing planet with at least 2 more
potentially life-bearing bodies in a single solar system out of ~200 billion stars of one galaxy of hundreds of billions of galaxies.
4. No
4a. (Why) I don't think we would be interesting enough.
-I am optimistically guessing at MANY advanced civilizations in our own galaxy, or at least that are SO advanced, we would
never know of their presence. After all, our planet has only been here for less than 1/3 of the time the universe has existed, and then factor in that Earth has had a few huge evolutionary setbacks (moon formation and asteroid impacts).
-Physics issues aren't factored into my reasoning as I firmly hold to the idea that there are ways around any 'roadblock,' be it a sobriety checkpoint or the speed of light.
Which of course means that I don't think us being alone on this rock amongst ~10^21 star systems in this universe is impossible. Just very unlikely.
