I think FS has enough issues without you all bring up the fact that he never knew his father

I would do it with a Livathan vs a Sathanas if I had AlphaOne flying escort :p

Re: Freespace's much older brother
That's spooky, I was just thinking about Way of the Exploding Fist last week, and castor posts a screenshot.....

iirc, it was the first ever fighting game, before even barbarian or street fighter etc.

Re: Freespace's much older brother
The one thing I loved about that game was the ability to walk up to your opponent and simply kick them in the nuts, and collect your points as they bent over double in agony ;)

Re: Freespace's much older brother
Renegade and Target Renegade were far better for that though. With the latter being the pinnacle of beat-em-up games as far as I'm concerned. After T:R the genre went back to one one one fights and an increasing reliance on the ability to remember and perform special moves.

I prefer simply having punch, a couple of kicks and the trade mark move "Grab opponent by the shoulders and repeatedly knee him in the bollocks."

To be honest I think I should move this topic to the Gaming forum now. :D

Re: Freespace's much older brother
 That was the side-scrolling older brother of Double Dragon iirc? Where you could pick up iron bars and things and hit your opponents with them?

And they think Video Game Violence is a new phenomenon....

Re: Freespace's much older brother
Yep. That's the one. Level 2 involved beating up hookers and avoiding their gun toting pimp. :D

Somehow I doubt the game would secure anything below a 15 rating these days :D

Re: Freespace's much older brother
You want to get to know one of freespace's ancestors?

Why don't you try googling "deepspace: operation copernicus" by sir tech software in the 80s?
