well beams that like like blob fire only faster and a lot bigger would look awesome in a bradside battle between 2 ships. I mean beam cannons are awesome there is nothing like it in any game i believe but on the other hand they last too little!
It was just an idea and a question.
Wouldn't it be easier and more practical to just make blob turret fire larger, faster, and more damaging if that's the overall look you're going for? Beams don't have a travel time, just an animation cycle, and it would quite frankly be really weird to watch damage effects play while the projectile is still in transit, or to get blown out of the sky by the invisible part of the beam when you can clearly see the projectile was nowhere near you.
You can already change table info on blob turrets to make them a far more effective weapon, no need to make things complicated if all you really want is a more potent laser barrage. You'd just need to update the graphics then.
