nVidia GeForce Go 7700 Driver Question...
I've had an Asus G1 laptop for a few months now and I've been pretty happy with it.  It comes with an nVidia GeForce Go 7700 GPU.  Lately though, I've been having noticeable problems with artifacting when I play various 3D intensive games, such as Morrowind, Civ IV, and NWN.  It manifests itself as small, rectangular, rainbow colored blocks on the textures.  I'm thinking about updating the drivers for my GPU, however I can't seem to find any official nVidia drivers for the Go 7700.  That means that I'm now looking at 3rd party drivers.

I'm posting here first, for a few reasons:

1.)  I once did a driver update for an ATI Radeon 9800XT.  I followed all the "rules" with regards to performing a driver update, and the new drivers permanently fried the card.  (I used the official ATI drivers.)  Any chance that something similar could happen here?

2.)  My laptop does get somewhat warm.  I always make sure that its air vent is clear and not obstructed by anything.  Could the artifacting be related to a heat problem?  If so, what can I do about it?  A cooling pad maybe?  (Although I've heard that those don't always work...)

I'll update this topic in about half an hour after I've gathered some screenshots of my problem.

EDIT:  Took a little longer than I thought.  It's those little squares in the image.  This isn't the worst though.

EDIT2:  Added NWN image.  The corruption is the green in the corner.

Bush (Verb) -- To do stupid things with confidence.

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

Bumper stickers at my college:

"Frodo failed.  Bush got the Ring."
