Converting FS2 Models to WCS
Greetings all. I am in need of some assistance.

I am trying to convert some of the user made FS2 models, specifically stations, for use in the WCS build.

I do not have any experience or knowhow in texturing, so I'm leaving the textures the same as they were in FS2. They don't quite match the WC universe, but they'll do for my project.

Here is the problem I am running into. I can get the models into WCS just fine, all textured and looking good. The problem is with the weapons. I have changed the weapons on the stations to the ones included in WCS, so there are no actual FS2 weapons left on them. The stations will fire their weapons, but there is no visible energy bolts or beams coming from the turrets.

For example, the first conversion I have done is the Acheron installation. It fires all of its weapons, and they cause damage, and the turrets even turn to the correct direction... but you can't actually see the bolts of energy flying at you.

It's probably something extremely obvious that I can't see. Can anyone offer any help?
Thanks,

CaptainX

It is difficult to say what is going wrong. Could you post which weapons you assigned?

Re: Converting FS2 Models to WCS
Actually, after doing more playing around, I believe I figured out the problem.

I was using tachyon turrets for the weapons. When I switch them to laser cannons, they work. So I'm not sure what's causing the tachyons to mess up, but at least the stations have weapons.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to texture them so they look more like WC era ships than FS2 era ships. Most of the models use the stock textures that came with FS2... but I have not the slightest idea of how to begin on retexturing a model.
