I know this may sound like a noobish question, but I searched the forums and had no luck.
How can I have asteroids in the path of a crusier be marked by white brackets.
It seems like it should be simple but I can't figure it out.

It has to be an active asteroid field, not a passive one.

Will the white brackets automatically happen, or do I have to do something in FRED to my active field?

They *should* appear automatically around any asteroid that is on a collision course with a friendly capital ship inside the field. I can't remember if it needs to be on the escort list or not, so if it fails, try adding it to that if it isn't already.

You were right.  It needed to be on the escort list.  I don't know why I didn't already have it there.  Thaniks for the help.

Don't forget you can specify a safe zone within an active asteroid field too

Really? How?
No one lives in the slums because they want to. It's like this train. It can't go anywhere except where its rails take it.

check the "Inner Box" in the Asteroid field editor, a green box will appear inside the Asteroid field box, use the x,y,z coordinates to specify the dimensions of the "Asteroidless" inner box, the same way you do with the outer box.
