I've be away from Freespace for almost two years, last night I get the lastest stable release of SCP(manually, the installer downloaded 200MB for 5 hours for me).

This is what I saw in my first combat.



Does any knows why the sun becomes...the sun?

It's even more wired that I can't get this face show up again. Neither by replaying the mission in mission simulator nor by creating a new pilot and replay the FS2 campaign. It just become an ordinary round yellow sun it the dark sky.

It's an easter egg. I've done it before in Apocalypse.

I think it's triggered by typing TELETUBBIES in-mission.

wait wait... that makes no sence, I just opened the mission and the sun is facing right the other way.... I tryed tiping teletubbies but nothing happens :S

I just tried typing TELETUBBIES in mission, nothing changed. Besides, it's no way that I type such thing in game last night.

It must be triggered by something else, if it can be triggered again.

I did a quick search and find that this teletubbies easter egg also exists in Descent 3.

But I can't get this work for me in SCP 3.6.10

• type teletubbies in game - nothing happens
• type "www.freespace2.com" (enable cheat) than type "teletubbies" in game - nothing happens
• type "www.freespace2.com" (enable cheat), hold down ~, than type "teletubbies" in game - it crashed to desktop

Still don't understand how did I get the sunny face show up in game....

Ah-ha, I knew where I went wrong. That code works in Descent 3, not FreeSpace 2. Sorry.

By the way, that's the sun from Teletubbies, right?

Check that you don't have DEM material loading in the game init phase.

IIRC this was a mod, maybe you had the mod installed at one point, then disabled it later.

I got this in Homesick back on retail...But that was because i Had Deus ex Machina installed at the same time

Running a debug build and then checking fs2_open.log could reveal if DEM is misplaced for some reason.
