Editing a campaign file
So I wanted to skip Bearbaiting (long story, involving the fact that Gemini or whatever jumps in just as you've finished the mission) and I felt like skipping it, forgetting that you have to kill the beams in the next one. I tried to change the campaign file, but never having done it before, I ended up with a bunch of "cue for XXXXXX.fs2 needs to be true" or some other bull. I fixed the cues, and still get the errors, and a crashed game. Basically what I did is deleted every mission up to sm3-01. What did I do wrong?

Re: Editing a campaign file
IIRC, you can jump out after the Sathanas has left. You don't need to bother with the Beleth if you don't want to get the only SD Demon kill possible in the FS2 campaign.

Deleting everything probably wasn't a very good idea...though I'm not sure about the particulars, I think that'd break more stuff than it'd fix.

I'd recommend modifying Bearbaiting to be easier, or just turning down the difficulty.  Or you could just add an event to destroy all of the beams.

Nope.  You get an AWOL debriefing unless the Beleth actually escapes.

Not true. I've done that many many times and no AWOL debriefing, though admittedly before the Beleth arrives.

Re: Editing a campaign file
Then either you failed to destroy at least 2 beam cannons, or you were playing a modified mission.  I was bitten by that bug enough times back when I first played FS2 to have it firmly ingrained in memory.

I also double-checked it by examining the mission and then replaying it just now.  So nyah. :p

So the HoTU mission is modified?

Hell I've played through it and killed 2/3/4 beam cannon and warped out all the time and never gotten that. :P Try again.

No, I skipped over it by accident, and wanted to go back.

Re: Editing a campaign file
It doesn't make High Noon that much harder if Sath starts with two beams, you know.
Just do the same thing - approach on full burn, you should be able to get both turrets before they come within range. The single wing of basalisks shouldn't bother you too much.

You also have to destroy every last fighter wing. Or you fail. I hate that mission.
