The thread in GD just made me think of this.
Plenty of people use optical mice with FS2 if they don't own a joystick. The only real drawback to the mouse is the level of sensitivity available. While the setting in Windows may be perfect for the desktop, but it is not nearly sensitive enough for the axes (specifically L/R axis) in FS. And the sensitivity adjust option in the FS2 controls can be maxed and not go any higher than the Windows default (in fact, it appears that in the upper ranges the sensivity adjust has no effect at all).
Would it be possible to implement a feature on the mouse sensitivity where the default setting used for windows is at the exact center of the FS sensitivity scale, and then each stepwise increase or decrease is an exponential adjustment to the sensitivity of the mouse? A linear scale (if indeed it actually does function) does not seem to be adequate for the demands of flight simulation for a mouse.
Possible? Feasible?
