Thanks for the replies guys; wait, so is Truespace required for this or will any modeling program (along with a program for COB conversion) work? I really dislike TS's interface and I don't have it at the moment, but if it is necessary I will just have to use that.
What I was doing so far was to build a generic model in 3DS Max, convert it to a COB using 3D Exploration and then drop it into Cob2Pof. Modelview opens up the POF fine but the game does not like it. PCS will not convert the stuff and gives some errors about the object name; I tried changing the name to "detail0" in 3DEx, but that didn't seem to help. I haven't tried out DTP's hex method yet though; that might work.
