Hi everyone.

I've installed the "Freespace 2 SCP Pack v1.5c, by ShivanSpS" version of the game and it works fine but the problem is with uninstallation.
There is no uninstall option in "add or remove" or anywhere else. So is it enough to just delete files or do I need to do anything else?

It is enough. FreeSpace_Open works that way.

And if you are going to continue playing eventually, forget about that ShivanSpS's pack. It is quite troublesome. Use Turey's Installer instead (link in my signature).

That said if you delete all the subfolders and everything but the VPs in the main one you'll probably save quite a bit of downloading time.

I'm not really familiarized with all this new mods, patches, installers... for freespace2. I've always played it in old fashion (3 cd-s). And what I would like to know is if someone can explain me, or give me the links for making a quality custom edition of freespace2.
What do I need to download to improve the graphics and to have the game on dvd (not 3 cd-s)? Mods are optional, what I would really like to have is original freespace2 with better graphics, but if there are good and stable mods, they are welcome.

Turey's Installer is the easiest option since it can download the retail FS2 (which you seem to have), cutscenes in ogg format (take up considerably less space than the original ones), the FSO game engine and the new Launcher, the latest stable and official MediaVPs (these are the files that give graphical delight) and numerous appreciated and functional mods (such as FSPort, that allows tou to play the FS1 campaign using either FS2 or FSO and therefore is much prettier than the original).

Actually, if you have original FS2 CDs, delete the entire ShivanSpS pack that you had acquired. Then, install FS2. Then, copy all .mve files on the disks to \freespace2\data\movies. Then, start up Turey's Installer and point it at your FS2 isntallation. It should detect the retail files. That way it won't download them, which saves you some serious download time and spares the servers.

I explained the most crucial items above. Basically, you can just select to download them all. The whole shebang should be around 3-4 gigs. Fits easily onto a single DVD.

Don't forget to install OpenAL (link in my signature).

The great thing about Open is, you don't need cds. as long as you keep it organized, you can go as far as your CPU's memory and graphics card can take you.

just one more question. how do I burn this to dvd? is it enough to just burn the whole installation directory to dvd or do I need to do anything else?
so when I want to play it again I just copy/paste it from dvd to a hard disc?

You'll also need to install OpenAL on any computer you want to play on. Other than that, you're right.

And it is a good course of action to burn the whole thing on a DVD and use it to copy the game onto other computers. Saves an awful lot of download time and makes the servers happy, hmm.
