I'm making a small mod to add modern military aircraft into FreeSpace, maybe with a campaign to explain how they got there. I've got two WIP models (one based on the MiG - 25 fulcrum, the other based on the F-16), Both of which can be seen here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,54899.0.html

I'm trying to learn how to texture the craft, then add tables to make them flyable, if anyone is interested in helping out, please let me know. Any support, feedback, or criticism will be appreciated.

And to be honest I think the idea of modern aircraft in the 24th century is stupid. I recommend just making a modern-day setting.

I still think that the idea of having fighters in 2367 fighting space fighters is unbelievably ridiculous. IMO they should just get stuck in some old modern-day "blow up the Russians" campaign.

There might be a few, interesting scenarios. Do you remember the old Amazon VS F-14 thread?

The original campaign idea involved a lost freighter from the sol system on it's way to a museum. But it made no sense, the new plan is to have it be sorta like the premise of the training missions of the FreeSpace 2 campaign, or a holodeck (pardon the star trek reference) type simulation.

A better idea would be to explain it like this: even the Tempest missile is like a nuke. Have it "restricted" in atmosphere. That you can only use weaker than Tempest/Fury weapons and fighters. Otherwise, a small fighter battle would be an extinction level event, or something close. . .

But actually, would be better to have it in the 21st century. . .

Heh, I was (or am, I never said I wasn't going to do it  ) going to do something like this with DySkO, but when he asked for permission to use the aircraft from YSFlight he got no reply. And now he's tied up with Uni, so I'll just have to wait (or stop being lazy about it and DO something  ).

It was/is going to be in a different universe, though.

Just for fun I think I'm going to do that, tomorrow is my day off so I'll paly around and see how it looks. I'm trying a more efficient modeling technique (Better to texture, less exporting errors, but takes longer), so It'll take a few hours, then I really gotta get better with greebleing.
