You'd think we would have all run into more trouble while playing Derelict.
Well, to be fair, I always did wonder why my computer would explode with the fire of a thousand suns whenever I played that particular campaign.

I wonder if it could  be related to this?

Do you have an Intel processor? If so, then that's perfectly normal.

Whenever FS2_Open crashes on my Mac, it hangs for about a minute before fading into black very quickly, then flickering once before going back to the desktop.
