I downloaded a ship and want to install it. I know standard, glow, and shine all go into maps, but what about the .ani file?

You mean the HUD ani of a spacecraft? It should go in data/hud...

So thats what its for? I don't have a program that can play .ani files outside of VP files, and no readme came with the package, so I assumed it was some sort of fancy special effect. That makes much more sense though.

Its most likely the shield icon.

Unless it's the interface art, in which case it would go into Interface...
