I've looked around to try to find out how to do this so I wouldn't have to post this, but I've got as far as being able to open a .tbl file with Notepad and edit some variables around. After that I'm completely 110% stuck on how to put it back into the .vp file it originated from so I can use it in the game.

If you are editing a table file from a mod as a fix, you just have put the table file into the modfolder/data/tables folder and it should work.

NO, no altering the contents of vp files (unless you have created them in the first place). If you want to make changes save the edited files to \data\tables directory (assuming you edited table files) of your mod.

Stuff should go into vp files if and only if it is going to be released - IF even then.

It's only the original FreeSpace 2 weapons so I can try to see what a good fire rate and projectile speed would be for the capital ship weapons.

Okay then, just stick them into the main data/tables folder. However, if you want to play non-testing wise, I'll recommend you take the table out.

Ah, I got it now.
This'll be FUN :hammer:...

By the way...has anyone ever managed to destroy their own ship with invulnerability on...I just did...

How did you manage that? Did you go out too far?

Well...after deciding to see how far I could exactly toss destroyers with a modified [Insert weapon] with a mass of like 100,000, fire rate of .01, and a shot burst of 500, I somehow ended up wedged in a corner where the communications arrays are on an Orion, and I tapped the mouse button, it spun so fast that not only did it put the Giant Metal Baseball Bat of Doom to shame, but it sent my ship several hundred kilometers out into deep space before going poof.

I think it might have been the 30 second lag spike that popped up after pushing the button, before I actually died I saw every single one of my subsystems at 0% with my hull at 1%, and remembering I turned invulnerability on at the beginning I was like "AWESOME!!!"

No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras
