fire points vs individual turrets
I am curious about 1 vs the other... for example if i have a single beam turret with 2 fire points (one point AAA and one point anti cap), would both fire points be able to fire simultaneously or would I have to break it into 2 turrets?

Unless you do something special only one fire point at a time shoots.

Re: fire points vs individual turrets
Well, one shoots at a time, but for a beam "shoots" means starts firing.
For example, I mounted three TerSlashes on an Orion's triple-mount, and they fired in quick sucession, give a 'rake' like effect. It was pretty awesome looking :P

I would think that the AAA and the anti-cap would both 'function'. There may be a slight targeting delay when they both want to fire (one takes a little longer), but it'll hardly be noticeable.

well this is gonna be for my connie. I'm thinking of making 2 beams with the same charge time, one AAA and one Anti cap. They'll both look exactly the same, just one will be able to target fighters... obviously a slight damage differential =p

Sure they work... But remember that they will start migrating their firing points.
Do not meddle in the affairs of coders for they are soggy and hard to light

Re: fire points vs individual turrets
If they share the same turret, each firing point can and will fire either beam. I think you're better off making them separate. You can have it look the same, just make the Anti-Cap beam one part and AAA beam the other.
