So, you're playing the mission, and everything's fine. If you die, or restart the mission (without quitting to the mainhall that is), however, everything goes wrong. You lose all control of your ship, (in fact, it seems to have disappeared entirely from the mission). The camera moves to 0,0,0 and looks forward, however if you press / or * to look outside your ship, it's situated several hundred metres away, where you're supposed to start.

Otherwise, the mission seems to play normally.

Has anyone else had this bug? If so, how did you get rid of it?

Thing is, I get it too.
And its totally random. Haven't gotten it in any of the nightlies though recently...for now.

it's not a bug report - not a formal one anyway, hence why it's in the fred forum rather than source code. I merely wanted to see if there was a known, simple fix before i mantised it. Now that it seems that there isn't a simple fix, i'll do it properly.

Sorted it. I'm just taht awesome.

It seems to be the result of putting the player into a wing that isn't the first in the list, or possibly the result of a wing not represented in multiplayer. My player is Gamma 2. As soon as I put Gamma into the first slot in all three lines of custom wing names instead of Alpha, the problem disappeared.
