Bombers going Waypoints again and again and again
I've got a little problem here I've been having for a while....
Recently I set up a mission where a wing of Ursas is to fly through a crossfire1 by flying a waypoint path (from wp 1 at the start point to wp 2 at their target). But once somebody is shooting close to these ships (happens from time to time I am told2) these things just reset their waypoints and go back the way they came to WP 1.
Sometimes they even to break their WP path just to bomb a corvette into oblivion which is just ca. 2000 meters of the center of their path

"No Dynamic Goals" is not really helping - in fact it does not help at all.

Can somebody help me?

1 - lots of Capships around fighting another (by going waypoints - and THEY DO WHAT THEY ARE F*CKING TOLD!)
2 - In fact I am fairly sure that happens 'cause the player is suposed to guard these bombers from two attacking wings....

ps. I cannot post a demo here - you would just need to many mod-files to get this up and going....

Re: Bombers going Waypoints again and again and again
Perhaps it would be better to put a stealthed, non-targetable nav buoy with an invisible texture and tell the bombers to attack it? That would probably get rid of the thing that makes them go back to point 1.

I've still had trouble with them being distracted by other targets though. (And when it happened to me, they went to try and bomb out an installation 50km away. ****ing idiots! I even told them in their orders to IGNORE it!)

Did you use waypoints-once instead of waypoints? (You should)

I cannot do this...
I used to slow down those ursas to strech that mission... would be pretty awful if the mission would be over in less than 4 minutes ;)
(and I cannot make the Ursa go slower by tbl-hacking cause I've got another wing doing the same only from a different direction and with a different speed)

Yes, I do use waypoints-once for the bombers

Wanderer recently made some changes to deal with exactly this issue for Wing Commander Saga. Unfortunately I don't remember the details but I'll point him in this direction.

But you can create a dummy GTB Ursa#slow and use it on that wing, while leaving GTB Ursa on the faster wing.

Hmm... It would be far easier to test this if it would be possible to have a mission (based on some relatively bug free data).

Re: Bombers going Waypoints again and again and again
I might have JUST sorted this out.... appearently it is not enough to give the ship or the wing "no dynamic orders" but BOTH...
