Australia now the number one polluter in the world
Per capita

Quote
British firm Maplecroft placed Australia's per capita output at 20.58 tons a year, some four percent higher than the United States and top of a list of 185 countries.

Canada, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia rounded out the top five. China remains the world's biggest overall greenhouse gas polluter, followed by the United States.

Maplecroft added that China and India's per person carbon production came in at just 4.5 and 1.16 tons respectively, in sharp contrast to their big overall figures.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

When extreme elimination is needed, you can count on Australia...

The horrible truth is revealed; kangaroos and wallabies are really mutated animals caused by extreme pollution.

Yeahhhh, right. Carbon dioxide is far worse "pollution" than the coal soot the thousands of coal fired power plants in China and India and other central Asian countries spew. Their pollution is so bad it makes it across the Pacific and is polluting the air over Canada and the US.

YES, third!

Oh, wait - this one's like golf isn't it?

Anyway, in this case per capita statistics don't count for ****. China is a step away from declaring every day bring your gas mask everywhere you go so you don't asphyxiate day, but they get bumped down the list because there are more of them to poison with it.

What is it this something that you imply someone (who?) has said the per capita statistics "count for"?

In a way you're correct about this, what matters for the entire world is the entire amount of pollution produced. However, if countries could be more efficient per capita, it would impact the entire amount. So yes, per capita does count for ****

Let's see, 21x10^06 vs. 350x10^06 vs 1,400x10^06.

1/70. Maybe that is a big number, maybe it isn't. But now, apparently, we are the fattest and dirtiest country on this planet...
