There's few better examples of this anywhere in the world than the Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea. According to
wikipedia the hotel started construction in 1987 (!), appearently two years after I was born and................................it still hasn't been finished. I suppose given that they are spending about 2% of the country's ENTIRE GDP on just this one building, it isn't a surprise. According to a BBC news article about it construction just recently started again and it is scheduled to be completed by 2012. I just wonder

were these guys thinking?
Given the large amount of doomsday hype around 2012, it certainly puts a new spin on the hotel's nickname of "Hotel of Doom".
