With Milkshape save in the DXF format and open it in Truespace - It's supported if I remember right.

I know. Seamlessy Pertinent Image Render Integration Tool or something. I just wanted to use some cool smileys. Besides, it'd have to be better for modding than Cinema 4D.

Well, there's where you need either TS or 3Dexploration. TS sucks for modeling, so it's only real use is for file converting.....

That might not be so bad. 2 hours trying to get the damn extrude tool to work properly on milkshape and I`m ready to take up a less stressful task like de-fanging cobras with my bare hands.
Every time I extrude anything other than a triangle the damn thing goes mad and drags the points I selected off the edge of the screen.  I`ve looked at about 5 tutorials and they all seem to say that I should have no trouble extruding a face.

TS 1 isn't a bad way to go if you want to get a feel for modeling, but you can't convert with it (or at least I never figured out how) because it absolutely refuses to allow numbers in object names.  Instead it likes to designate turrets as turret; turret,1; turret,2; etc. and no program will convert that to .pof.  Use at least TS2.

Problem is that I can`t find TS2 it's not even available for sale on calgari's site (and the 30 day trial ran out over a year ago!)

Bah. Forget TrueSpace- it's less than worthless. I can link you to the cheapest full prog I know of, but even that's about $100-150.

Other than that, well...:D

Scratch that last post. Not the part commenting on TrueSpace's worth, just the rest. See "Frick the System" in the Hard Light forum.

See, Thunder, I advertised it! Now go make it a sticky!:D

Actually, you can. Just open the finished model in a text editor, find the correct line for the subobject name, and then change the name "turret;1" to "turret01".

That should work :)

You don't have to name the parts in TS1. You can do that with ModelView32 or PCS. And I have been able to convert models from TS1 into POF, but I need to work on turret editing. Made a test object with a turret that looked like it would work, but it didn't fire 'cause I didn't turn beams on then decided I wanted to texture the thing. Haven't gotten the turret in the textured one to be recognized as a turret yet. Anyone know of good modeling and/or TS1 tutorials? Hmm. Will have to search for Tutorial on the boards. And, for that matter, anyone know where you can legally download TS2?
(I've tried Blender, it's GUI doesn't work well with my video card and that, combined with it's cryptic system, makes TS1 seem better by comparison.)
