Actually that's not what the research was actually supposed to be about but I found it quite hilarious how they decided to make something out of the fact that they couldn't find a control group.

Comparing "never been exposed" to "regular users" is going to be hard in a society where hardcore and softcore porn are literally everywhere. Why not just compare "regular users" to people who actively avoid it, even if they've been exposed in the past?

The study found that men watched pornography that matched their own image of sexuality, and quickly discarded material they found offensive or distasteful.

Also, what if you find all of it offensive or distasteful? That's where I am, and I know I'm not the only one...although I admit it makes me a rarer breed.

Well it was a scientific study. You report the trends and averages not the actual data.

I suppose they might publish a study on the types of porn people watched out of the same data at some point though.
