Anyone using an ATI Radeon x1900xt video card or similar?
There were some issues regarding driver support for these video cards: they were causing crashes on FS2_Open due to some driver functionality removed since 7.10 (the driver version I'm using).

Has this been addressed or does this problem still exist?

this has not been addressed because it is essentially not the SCPs problem if a GPU manufacturer screws up their drivers. There are simply not enough coders around to do the necessary workarounds to make those cards work correctly without that driver hack.

However, you do not need to keep the old driver for eternity. The only thing that you absolutely need is the atioglxx.dll from that driver (should be in your system32 folder), which you should place in your FS2 folder. After that, you can upgrade your driver without losing the FSO shaders.

Thanks, it looks like it worked like a charm.

I was never looking for a permanent fix, just a way to get around this issue.
