Is there any place with a set of mission file templates (i.e. backgrounds) for the standard star systems (e.g. Aldebaran, Beta Cygni, Delta Serpentis, etc.)?  If not, we should make some--perhaps several for each system with the star(s) in different locations and sizes relative to the nebula backgrounds.  It'd be a great resource for modders.  Except where canonically specified, whoever does this ought to make these as realistic as possible; for example, Antares, Aldebaran, and Betelgeuse would all have large, red stars, etc.

I meant empty mission templates, except for backgrounds.  I guess if they don't exist somewhere else, we'll just have to get the backgrounds out of the full missions.

It shouldn't be too hard to just copy-paste the revelant background data out of missions onto the forum in code tags or something. It'd be a good resource to keep backgrounds consistent with the MVPs.

Admiral Nelson did this for the FSPort.  He doesn't have every system, but he has a fair few.

I use the import background option ALL the time. I'm one of those people who hates the mundane-ness of background placing.

I thought sandwich or lightspeed started working on this a while back.  There was a zip file floating around that had blank missions with the backgrounds.  I think I remember ther were backgrounds created by Lightspeed, Axem and Blaise Russel in the pack.  I think it was about 5 or 6 years ago.  I found a copy but they are not all finished.

I have found a copy of my files I e-mail to Ian back in 2007.  It is rather out of date but still has most FS1 and FS2 systems.  I will clean it up and post it someplace hopefully tomorrow.

Okay, here is a file I have managed to assemble from that old e-mail.  It is missing some newer work and is also missing M87's stars.  But most of what is in here should still work well.  The file contains both LS backgrounds and the standard backgrounds that came with FS2.  I did not create the collection of the standard retail backgrounds, these came from someone else who wanted to work on this project ages ago.  I do not recall who this was any longer.
