I have just been accepted onto a degree in interior and spatial design because of my computer skills i have picked up making models for Freespace YEARS ago. I will be learning a new program. It is called Form Z and i cant wait to start the course in September. So the moral of this story is if someone says to you "get off that computer, stop messing around with that stupid 3D modeling program and get a job", just say to them "I am aiming to do this professorially, get out of my room i am studying", lol.

Dude thats great to hear! 

Architecture student here, FreeSpace really helped me get a grasp on 3D forms in space and how they perform functionally/aesthetically. I can't draw as clear a connection as you can, but I feel that it certainly has helped me more than I would initially think.

Yeah, I agree, the design course is engendered towards how forms occupy space and what makes them aesthetically pleasing. similar to what we do when we make a spaceship for Freespace. In fact one of my favorite designers is 'Zaha Hadid', i can imagine her structures occupying a Freespace planet quite easily.

I'm curious, Fozzy. What models did you make for FreeSpace?

I made a few things, but i struggled with UV mapping. I made loads of different Aeolus variations, and a modified fenris with an extra hull section and 'arms' coming out of the side where the old dock point was! also a jumpgate.
