Ok, after getting this game to work wih a little help from people here, i've started up the game again and started where i was. I'm on the mission when you encounter the two alien firters for the first time. I'm suppost to fly around untill my jump drive charges but when it does and i jump out the game dialog seems to e happy but when i try and go to accept it says i failed the mission. I don't get it? i've tried not touching the other ships, i've blown them out the sky. Confused.

You failed the mission because you, well, failed really hard. Read the briefing. Listen to the ingame messages. You are not supposed to kill anything in those missions, you are just there to observe. From a distance. Without being detected.

Just stay far away from them so you're not detected. And don't mind The_E, he's a grump.
