Freespace 2 Communication
I've been wondering for awhile now if you are able to you headsets in order to command your wingmen in the game. I would try it out myself but I don't have a headset. Any thoughts?

:welcome:

There is (or was) a voice-recognition system added to FS2_Open that lets you order your wingmen using voice commands; I tried it out once myself, and it worked very well.  Here's the FS Wiki page that describes how it works.  The only thing is, I'm not entirely sure if the feature is still working in more recent SCP builds, but someone who's actually on the team should be able to answer that. :)

i can't remember the name of it, but there's some easy, free voice recognition program that translates phrases to key strokes.  i never used it, but it came highly recommended (i think from the LOMAC crowd)

There was indeed a voice recognition system but it started causing mad crashes. I don't know if it was fixed or removed.

It was fixed.  It should still be around in official Windows builds.
