I've recently made a few small updates to
Freespace 2 Sector, a relatively old and aging website that has been around since the early days of FS2 modding. While originally a somewhat larger site, over the years it turned into a simple resource site for community projects and mod sharing. Despite that, in recent years it has been going downhill with a huge lack of updates (
my fault...) and a serious drop in activity. Yet it still takes up a lot of traffic on our server, and people still seem to land on F2S (
sometimes before they find HLP) every now and again. So in the last few days I have made an effort to update the site with some of the newer mod releases in the community (
some of which were already there anyway) such as mirrors for SCP content, new campaigns and the like. There is obviously still quite a bit of new content missing, and the site is absolutely flooded with ancient mods dating back from the early days of modding. I decided *not* to delete all the old content simply because no one else kept an archive of them until FSMods came along.
Building a galleryAside from adding some of the latest mod releases, I've also updated the gallery with a much simpler system than before. I removed all the rating/comment features (
which just cluttered up the pages) and gone with a simple gallery system. You can find the gallery
right here - Currently I have divided screenshots into different sections. If you have new pictures to add, feel free to do so. Originally there was a whole bunch of renders, screenshots and concept art. Now I've also added pictures from eyecandy threads here at HLP. If anyone can think of some additional pictures to add, either let me know or submit them yourselves.
FanficThe third update to the site after the mods and gallery is the fanfiction. After sitting on my hard drive for ages, I finally got around to putting up a copy of the fanfiction found at the Freespace Archive onto F2S (
can never be sure when that site will disappear) - You can find them
right here - I'll be allowing new submissions shortly, as I am aware there is quite a bit of new material on the forums here. If anyone has time, please check over the pages to make sure there isn't any missing links.
Remember, if you have a mod or campaign that isn't stored on F2S, feel free to upload it or let me know about it. F2S may no longer be an important site, but I am quite willing to provide mirrors for any and all community projects. You can upload content
right here or simply send me a PM if the file is too big for uploading in one go. I will look into larger file uploads shortly.
Twisted Infinities & HostingExpect a few more updates to F2S shortly, including some new content from the Twisted Infinities campaign which has been (
slowly) in development for many years. And on that note, is our project hosting. Most of the old timers here will already be aware, but for those that do not; Sectorgame provides unlimited hosting accounts for community projects, and we are also open to non-FreeSpace accounts providing it is gaming related. So if you are interested in getting your campaign/project hosted over at Sectorgame, just let me know right here or via PM/email. You'll also get your old section in the
Sectorgame forums which could use a little bit of love after a serious drop in activity over the past couple of years.
I'll also be finally updating the forums in the days/weeks to come.
