Firing the cannons from a viper
Will it have that shutter through the ship like you see in the show?  Unlike most games where when you fire a gun all you hear is a sound, I was hoping that this mod will bring in the recoil affects instead of the unsatisfying firing of a no vibration gun.  Thoughts?

Screen shudder due to ballistic weapons has been in the engine since FreeSpace 2 retail.

Hmm..  Maybe I haven't noticed it in video's or something.  (Still dying to play vanilla but having some trouble with freespace open)

See the other thread, we can fix it.

Re: Firing the cannons from a viper
I can personally vouch that not only will it have shudder, you will also feel it on your stick if you happen to have a force feedback joystick. Not sure how strong a visual effect we'll end up having though. A subtle one I'd be ok with, anything too powerful would be distracting.

Re: Firing the cannons from a viper
Note, I've had problems with shudder on very rapid fire weapons (it's being applied after letting go the trigger).
The most notorious offenders were my gatling guns, but I don't know if current Diaspora guns don't fire fast enough for it to happen.
If they do, you may want to fix that bug.

What bug?

Not sure though, but i think the ROF will be in the same range as the BtRL fighter weapons, so no real issue there.

Re: Firing the cannons from a viper
BTRL guns, IIRC, didn't had that issue, though I might be wrong, better test it on a recent build to be sure.
Also, I didn't tested how "cycle" flag affects this bug.

Re: Firing the cannons from a viper
hm iirc, the shudder effect was subtle during firing. After releasing the firebutton, the "last" shudder was stronger, more noteable.
Have to check with some older builds, didn't notice anything suspicious the last time.
