With some ship models in FS, particularly the highly obvious Colossus, possessing visual similarities to firearms, perhaps someone (that is someone other than me, since I can't model) might make a mod where the ships are actually modeled after real firearms.  Think of an Orion-sized Tommy Gun or a juggernaut-sized MG42.
