Maybe start with the SOC mission then.

Kids game more difficult games, earlier and earlier. I had serious competition on the Wii against my 12 years old cousin the other day, it wasn't funny. :P I guess if your student gets into FS2, he may like it.
Currently playing: real life.

"Paying bills, working, this game called real life is so much fun!" - Said nobody ever.

Oh, this is the best idea. Make sure he has MAX volume, and plays it in the middle of the night in the silence of the darkness! With all the lights off, curtains drawn.

Re: The Proper Way To Corrupt
I first started playing FS, ...

I had the demo for FS2, it came in bundle in a graphics card box that my cousin left me (new card for the pc). And the art of the disk looked cool, and then the intro movies kinda had me sold on the game.

Training was good, and then I just kept playing, and playing, and playing. Until I bought FS1 atleast 3 yrs later, and FS2 1.5 yrs after that. (and FSOpen 6 months after that). And here I am today (nearly 1 year after getting FS2).

Movies/Cutscenes... I blame them :)

-------------

Playing the full FS2 was a great relief though, I didnt think it could have expanded like it did. And that Sath rammed me pretty hard the first time... scared me sh*tless... (considering it jumped from 1/2 loaded to the 3rd "DIVE" nearly instantly...)

Re: The Proper Way To Corrupt
Actually after some serious consideration I think I'm gonna go with Vassago's Dirge: The mission where the Carthage and the 8 Mjolnir's take out the Vassago and it's fleet. Nice and pretty, decently long, not a need to kill a lot of stuff.

Most of the other missions I took at look at were either:

A. in the middle of a hard to understand plot (a non-native speaker wouldn't know what Dive meant, except that you aim for empty space and fire the afterburners). As a player you have to imagine your ship moving, it's not a lot to look at though.

B. too difficult to be beatable in any short amount of time.

I got one more week before his reading test to think things over. I'll calibrate the X-52 to target big ships and teach him the correct order to target the ships in. Shouldn't be too bad.

Hopefully his mum will like the classic music as well.
