Thanks for the input folks. I'll take a look at what amps are running through the rail and how I have the power all set up.
And for those people saying ATI....shame on you!
Hardware may be good, but we all know that nVidia supports their drivers way better
im kinda wierd with my brand loyalties. i usually always buy nvidia for desktop cards. needless to say i understand their naming conventions better than atis, and i like their drivers better. but when i buy a laptop it almost always has an ati chipset. usually because when im shopping for a laptop i prefer dedicated memory over shared memory, and couldnt find dedicated memory with a nvidia gpu at the time (seemingly in all instances of me shopping for a laptop with a fairly good gpu).
one of the reasons i dont like ati is their opengl support is lacking. many features of an ati card just dont work with opengl while nearly identical features on nvidia cards do (sli vs crossfire for example). of course nvidia is starting to do the same thing, like for example with 3dvision, which only seems to be compatable with games that use d3d over opengl. another reason for my nvidia preference is i useed to be a big time 3dfx user before they went under, and decidedly i went with the company that sent them packing. even now i think i would go with nvidia even if ati obviously had a better product at the same price, because im getting old and thus set in my ways,
