Support ships repair hull does not work
Every time I hit "save" the "hull repair ceiling" value resets to zero. help?

Yall post at the most inconvenient times.

First of all, when I started up the debug version of FRED2_open, I had no problems, but when I opened up my map, I got

Serious problem loading model cruiser01x.pof, 9 normals capped to zero...whatever that means.

Second, I found out that message comes up again whenever I save in debug mode.

I went back to mission specs and made sure "support ships can repair hull" was checked and entered a value, hit ok, and saved. Got that error message again.
Went back to missions specs and it was still there, unlike yesterday.

Third, when I closed the program I got an über long error message that I will not even attempt to type out by hand replicate manually.

I reopened the mission in regular FRED2_Open and the "support ships can repair hull" thing was still there.

So, don't know what that was about yesterday.



I know some programs will not let you save changes to a file if that file is open in another program. When I made that change yesterday, I was testing my mission in FS2_Open, so I will assume that the file was open in FS2_Open. My hypothesis is that is why it did not keep that change.

However, I have made changes to the mission while the mission was open in FS2_Open before (such as placing new ships, editing coordinates, adding SEXPs, etc.) and it did save. So... I don't know bout that.

Tell me what you guys think.

Also, I'm going to post my debug log anyway. It will be attached as a text file. If you want me to copy and paste it and use the "code" BB tag, let me know.



Additionally, when this mission is relatively complete (as far as I can get it anyway), I'll be looking for some beta testers. karajorma told me to post it to the Missions and Campaigns board, so keep an eye out for it there.

Probably not related to the problem you're having. It's an issue with a model you have, and probably isn't affecting the Hull Repair.

Is this the entire debug log for when you attempted to work with the Hull Repair? It seems like only the loading process.

Ok. Weird. Hull repair has now reset to 0 again.


And unless the fred 2 open debug log is located somewhere other than "C:\Games\FreeSpace2\data", then yes, that's all of it. Do you want me to delete it and run the debugger again?

Fred has done things like that to me, too (though not this specifically).  It's pretty annoying.  I would finish the mission as much as possible and then add the hull repair option by editing the file with notepad.

Try removing some of the variables in your problem. You were getting that serious error regarding the models. Remove the custom model that is causing the issue. Does it still happen then? Try building the level only in FRED Debug. Does that work? Try editing it in Notepad, does that work? The more possible variables you remove, the closer you are to figuring out what is causing the issue.

I don't have a model named "cruiser01x.pof" in my models folder in the first place. And none of my .tbm files reference a model named "cruiser01x.pof"
