software needs to keep up with hardware. its really the only reason to upgrade your os.

For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone with hardware capable of running Windows 7 is still obstinately sticking with XP.  This isn't like the Vista release, 7 is markedly different.

Perhaps they have an old XP disk and Key and don't have/want to shell out the $100+ for win 7 (XP keys can be used twice every 6 months, why spend more?). Come to think of it, half the new HPs at my college, that all have SB i5s, still use XP. Or perhaps they don't like change (I did -not- like 7 at first, I'm sure the same applies to others).

I know with me personally, it's not having a 64-bit system, plus not having the hardware that would really make it worthwhile.  When I'm able to build a nice box of my own, I'll go with 7 by default, but as long as XP is still being supported, it works just fine for me.

XP didn't magically stop working after they released 7.  the only reason i'm getting 7 now is because it's for a complete new build.  no reason to spend $100 when XP is just fine.
