That's a knobbled hammer.
For a start it only runs at 800Mhz, has no SSE2, a semi functional 64-bit instruction set and probably no fancy features like superbypass (actually..scratch that, the hammer bus doesnt need it!) and hardware prefetching.
ANYTHING stomps a 1.6g P4 *ROFLMAO*
The hammer will probably have about 50-60% performance advantage over an identically clocked athlon XP. in 32 BIT instructions.
Plus the hammer has a great memory system...the memory controller is on the processor die itself meaning if you add another processor you add another northbridge and double your memory bandwidth (you'll probably need seperate DIMM banks per CPU though...thats the problem with NUMA)
I'm looking to get a 4-way for rendering showreels out next year...course I wont own it..i'm hoping everyone will chip in, but anyway...64-bit Mentalray on a quad hammer...yummy
