I'd like to introduce to you the game we (Gaijin® Entertainment and Star Gem, Inc.) are working at:

Star Conflict, a dynamic new MMO action game that puts you at the helm of a space ship to fight in the star fleets' massive battles! It offers various PVP-modes, plenty of RPG system elements, dozens of original-looking battle spaceships and accurately designed social features. Closed beta-test is set to start in December 2011

We've recently launched the official website at Star Conflict.com that will provide the latest information about the project and serve as a hub for customer support and community activities. There’s also a newsletter sign-up for those who wish to stay in touch with the Star Conflict universe and its community.

The second I hear MMO i always have to ask ... typical MMO? with nonexistant story,  cruddy gameplay but oggles of achievements and gear to grind for? They are all the same sadly. You played one of them and you have seen them all (and usually are disgusted.)

I must say the designs are astonishing, a bump it's an MMO... that means I'm not playing it :C

This is going to be Free-to-play indeed. No PvE is planned to be at the first time after release - massive PvP storyline-based matches

I must say the designs are astonishing...

They really are! We'll also be posting sketches and interviews with artists. And of course there will be a nice fan-kit available at Star-conflict.com

Well count my interest officially piqued.  What's the primary game mechanic like?  Is it a console interface akin to EVE's, or is it more space-sim, where you actually pilot your ship instead of letting an algorithm do it for you?

That's a space-sim. Not going to be hardcore like some aviasims but yes - the ships got to be controlled manually. However fregates will be able to do some functions automatically (properly tuned defensive turrets for example)

Gaijin Entertainment is announcing the approach of the Star Conflict closed beta test. Those interested in taking part to play and beta test this upcoming MMO space action game can sign up now, with the closed beta scheduled to start in the near future. Star Conflict will release on PC later this year.
