I made my own headani but in a mission it shows up all blurry, fuzzy, and distorted.

It would be easier just to show me a screenshot, because I'm too lazy to find the real download link on sites like that. (Side note: why can't people just use Mediafire? Simple, clean interface.)

Based on the info, my first guess is that it's a .ani file and it's not indexed correctly. The best solution is to make it a .png or .jpg EFF type animation and wait until we get new nightly builds.

How do you do an EFF for a headani?

You're using the wrong colour palette for your pcx files (and so your ani). Use aniview to extract a pcx (not a BMP) from an existing headani (any of the retail ones will do, or any of mine) and apply that specific palette to all your frames, then rebuild your ani.

Deal with the palette stuff if you want.. but I'm telling you that as soon as we get nightlies again, you can skip that Olympic hurdle and just use an EFF.

well it's good to know how to use the pallette stuff, because -
wait pretty much everything can be done without minding the stupid pallete issues nowadays, the only thing being (IIRC) weapon selection/ship selection icons.
