A rather amusing article about how one could be able to steal the space shuttle while it travels through LA, definitely worthy of a Bond supervillain.

win.

honestly with the money you put into stealing a spacecraft designed in the 70s, you could probibly just build a new state of the art spacecraft instead. you just need to find some nazis.
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

But if you already have a Buran, why would you steal Endeavour?

:wtf:

That is pretty awesome.  I was going to say that they won't be able to launch Endeavour since NASA performed a main-propulsion-system-ectomy on it, but that wouldn't be an issue if they could somehow find an Energia rocket to launch it on.  Of course, refurbishment would take quite a lot of work regardless.

Nice, although i have seen Buran shuttle in Speyer museum, and i gotta give it to the soviets, their machine was better in design. *bricked*. same with TU-144 and concorde. It might be that they jsut improved on stolen blueprints, but hey :D

Buran was a better STS than the STS.

I'd rather steal a Skylon...

Buran was a better STS than the STS.

probably. there are always a lot of quirks that you can only find through continued use of the system, and sts's quirks just happened to kill a bunch of people so the bar isn't very high considering what I know about buran. and for whatever it's worth, nasa is usually totally anal about the  trls of things they send into space. i just don't know much about how the soviets did things or how the russians do things.

in any case, i'd rather steal the endeavor because it was actually used. i'd just as soon steal the buran as i would the enterprise.

It was nothing like their submarine program.

For one, it was not powered by a nuclear reactor.

That's not much of an endorsement considering some of their diesels.
