My motherboard is an Asus P5N-D.  Is there anyway I can add SATA III SSD to my system and not bottle neck it? The motherboard is SATA I or II, but not a SATA III or USB3.0 to add.  What are my options please?

If you really insist on having the SSD on a SATA 3 connection, your best bet would be some sort of SATA 3 expansion card, but honestly I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

Yes you might be right.  Does anyone know of a motherboard that will take a intel socket 775, have SATA III and USB3.0?

Quick search on newegg.com says... they don't have any, they do have SATA 2 (3Gb/s).

Honestly, if your this hellbent on SATA 3 (6Gb/s) you might as well upgrade your CPU.

I don't have that kinda cash.  A new CPU and Memory and Motherboard added up together is beyond what I have.

Depends on the exact SSD in question. I'm stuck on SATA-II with my OCZ Agility 4, but I still get 250/250 mb/s transfer speeds and essentially no latency. This with my X58+ICH10R motherboard.

i was always kinda curious about how busy the sata bus can get. the other day when i backed up my drive through an esata port, it jammed my wifi. it was quite an interesting pneomenon. even with the relatively well shielded sata cable and the equally well sheilded antennea cable, still managed to get crosstalk between them. but thats aside the point. i very much doubt any of my drives could fill up a sata 2 connection much less a sata3 connection. i guess you have to get a ssd before you even notice something like that.

Even with SATA II you will notice a big performance boost (loading times), so IMHO SATA III isn't necessary.

Of course it's sold out--you'd have to be insane not to want it. I spent $300 for a 512GB OCZ Agility 4. I feel like a fool because Samsung 830 256GB's could be had for $160 and would perform better.

Is it mandatory to get the upgrade kit? Or I guess what I'm saying is should I wait for a SSD with and upgrade kit (desktop)?

No it aien't. Double-sided velcro usually works pretty well.

sata is backward compatible.  a sata III drive will work in a sata I connection, you just won't get the III transfer speed.
