Windows 8: Four approaches to Start Menu / Desktop restoration

Some are more integrated into Metro, some are 7 clones, some are throwbacks to XP Classic style.  Take a look and post which one(s) are your favorites!

Re: Windows 8: Four approaches to Start Menu / Desktop restoration
Hmmm.

None of the above, would be my answer. Yes, despite me saying that I used Start8 in the other Win8 thread.

Reason is that, at least for me, there is no appreciable difference between the way I use the Win7 start menu, and the way I use the start screen. In both cases, I press the windows key, start typing the name of the program I want, and press enter (or use the arrow keys to navigate to the item I want).

I agree with The E, for the most part. In general, I just use Win Key -> search. Anything I actually want quick access to (Actually, I use the Metro Mail app a fair bit, it's nice and quick to get into and it handles my Gmail and Hotmail accounts just fine). And I usually run with 3 1280x1024 screens in nVSurround as one big screen, which you'd think would make the interface a royal pain, but it hasn't been much of an issue despite that.

  FWIW, my brother says that if you right-click on the bottom left, and you basically get the start menu back anyways.  Didn't know that.
