Hello,
So I've played a wonderful archaic campaign called Into The Depths of Hell for the second time and this time I ran into the same problem.
I've consulted the vast library of posts upon this glorious sight and found that people have had this problem in the past, like in 2004 when ITDoH was released... But nobody ever said anything concrete in the form of a solution.
(Spoilers below...)
Forgive me because I forgot the mission name (somebody said it was called "911" or something) but it's a Red Alert mission during a portion of the campaign where you escort a bunch of supplies to a NTF fleet. The mission is when you actually arrive at the NTF fleet.
On my laptop the game suddenly freezes at a random time anywhere from 20 to 40 seconds into the game. I can't interact with the game and windows tells me it's suddenly stopped responding. On my old laptop on the same mission, I was a tad luckier and the mission usually crashed about a minute to a minute and a half in.
There's a Deimos at 2% hull integrity and a modified Orion. There are a few wings of Shivan fighters and a wing of Taurvi's that appear to spawn randomly, in any given direction, about 2000 meters from where I spawn at the beginning of the mission. I've also noticed that only maybe 20% of the time the fleet I'm supposed to be guarding actually appears out of subspace. The rest of the time there's a group of cargo containers where they're supposed to exit.
Now, I honestly doubt this is a hardware problem. But if it'll help I have on my current laptop:
AMD A10 Quad-Core processor with Raedon HD graphics
6 gigs of RAM
an additional 1 Gig AMD Raedon graphics card
My previous laptop had considerably less hardware than above, it was only a single core, no additional graphics card, and only 2 gigs of RAM to it's name.
It might have something to do with what build I'm using, at which case I'm using 3.6.12 if that'll help.
So, assuming it's not one of the above, could it be a coding issue? Is it possible the Deimos is supposed to die (the Taurvi's do sometimes appear nearby it and make it explode, but this is only like 5-10% of the time)? What is wrong with this thing? The archaic posts do say that if you restart the thing over and over again it'll eventually work itself out, but does that really work?
Any help at all would be eternally appreciated, thank you.
