Make a dead ship float and rotate - How?
Hi again

I'm trying to make a ship pitch, yaw and roll randomly like it being dead and out of controll when it leaves subspace, but haven't yet found the right SEXPs to make that work. Could you please tell me how I can achieve that with which SEXP or does this require a script?

I'm a bit lost here.

Aren't there sexp's like ship-rotate-x , -y and -z? They were under "Coordinate Manipulation" last time I checked.

Nope, these aren't there. Also the wiki isn't providing any info about these SEXPs.

Ship-rot-maneuver or ship-maneuver is what you want going by this. Maybe add in some glowpoint-bank manipulation and force-glide (and set-speed) if you want it to drift like it is unpowered or something. Might have to disable the ship's AI too.

I did something like this once. I'll have to go dig in the mission to figure what I did though. I remember it took a lot of trial and error. But I have video proof! This is a little more complicated than what it seems like you want, but it does have the random rotation. The Aten, when it hits a certain hull %, is covered by explosions and then the model is switched to a hulk version of the Aten. It's the hulk version that I applied the SEXPs to in order to make it seem to keep momentum and drift off into space.

When I get some time, I'll go figure out what I did with the SEXPs and let you know.

I would post the mission except I don't have it anymore. That was just a proof of concept test mission. The actual effect is embedded in a BtA mission, which I'm obviously not ready to release yet.

So I'll need to go in and either trim the mission down or transplant the effect to a new mission file. I just haven't had time yet with several studio projects going on. Remind me if I haven't gotten back to it in a week or so.
