Sounds like a virus or malware, time to reformat?

Also, get NoScript and adblock Plus.

damn it, thats my line.

Well, we happen to share opinions on this matter, besides no adware expects the reformat inquisition!

Adblock Plus is fantastic. It also has the added advantage of blocking youtube ads.

Do none of you us antivirus? I use avast, and haven't had infections since ever, but I'm not sure if it's actually doing anything lol.

Adblock Plus is fantastic. It also has the added advantage of blocking youtube ads.

On behalf of Youtubers, I ask that you don't do that. They only get paid for views when the ads play, so using adblock means that the people who make videos you enjoy don't get paid what they're entitled.

Actually, it's the same for most ad-supported sites. HLP, for example, when it still had ads, only got money when the ads were allowed to load.

TBH, I hate YouTube ads. Especially problematic when trying to listen to music, they're loud and incredibly jarring. I want to listen to a jolly Irish tune, not some crappy rock-ish ad soundtrack with a guy jelling at the top of his lungs about how a product is great. It kills the mood faster than a .50 BMG round. I love the YouTube Adblock plugin for Opera, literally can't browse YouTube without it. It was just too frustrating before. There are less annoying ways of earning money, use that instead.[/rant]

Honestly I think using any of the built-in all-encompassing AdBlock filters probably winds up eating revenue from a bunch of people that actually need it.  I ignore those and just block the odd obnoxious Flash ads that bring my CPU to an utter crawl.

Re: Help me getting rid of those disturbing, random pop-ups
i don't believe it is anyone's right to shove invasive and deliberately annoying ads in my face all over the internet.  my adblock will remain.

i have even less sympathy for the countless thousands of youtube posters who think they are going to get rich by throwing up some video and trying to go viral, that in most cases they didn't even make themselves.  and then i found out that youtube was inserting ads into my own videos after i explicitly denied them permission to do so.  that was the absolute last straw.  youtube will never ever EVER be viewed without adblock again.  if it stops working, i will simply stop visiting the site.

Meh, just sayin' is all. Though I do completely agree with the ads before music, they deserve to die. Too bad there's no way to selectively block ads from just those.

Re: Help me getting rid of those disturbing, random pop-ups
adblock now has an "allow some non-intrusive advertising" option that lets through some plain-text/non-flashy ads.
