joystick miscalibration: logitech extreme 3d pro:
Hi all!

It so happens that I've undusted my old win98 machine with the intent to run freespace on it and sadly my logitech extreme 3d pro is giving me woes:

it's a USB joystick and should auto calibrate, but sadly everything's off focus (including z axis and thrust, which is bizarre), the joystick itself is not that old and undamaged.

Is there a way to manually recallibrate the joystick like your run of the mill generic one or some kind of fix up to that problem or is a new purchase necessary?

thanks in advance.

  • If somebody made a campaign I've probably got it
Re: joystick miscalibration: logitech extreme 3d pro:
if you go to the logitech web site they have a program for clearing the calibration which should reset everything.  You might try running that.  I've also found with the logitech that unplugging it and plugging it back in will sometimes fix the problem.  Don't leave the joystick plugged in when not using it because that can also cause problems.   I think the software for the joystick had a calibrate function, but I haven't used the software lately.

I've been using my extreme 3D pro for several years now.  It's on it's fourth computer.
Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:
Mechanical Engineers build weapons.  Civil Engineers build targets
An optimist sees the glass half full; the pessimist sees it half empty. An engineer sees that the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Hmm, that clearing program could prove useful!

As for unplugging, plugging, I'm doing just that, but calibration is still off.

Re: joystick miscalibration: logitech extreme 3d pro:
Calibration for USB joysticks are stored in the Windows Registery. Unplugging and re-plugging often does not work for that reason.

However, I ocasionally had succes by un plugging and replugging tech in an different USB port, thus causing windows to think it was a different device for some reason and create it's own profile for it.
