Hi folks

Since I've got myself a new USB headset, I have a problem regarding the audio output source for FS Open.

I have two audio devices enabled. First being the soundcard (Creative Soundblaster X-Fi) where my speakers are plugged into and the second is the USB headset (Corsair Vengeance 2000) which I use all day for Teamspeak and other stuff.

But no matter what I set in the Launcher, only the soundcard is used as output device. Sure I could disable it, but that's actaully not the way I'd like to do it. I want my headset to be set as default sound output device, so I can play and test no matter the time. With the current situation I can only play when no one is at home, because the is quite bass heavy.

The reason for these two sound devices is that I watch TV via PC in the evening or during the night using the speakers.

Could anyone help me find out how to fix this problem without allways deactivating the soundcard itself?

Sys specs:

Win 7 Ultimate x64

Game specs:

Launcher 5.5f

Thanks guys

When you have your USB headset plugged in, right click on your volume control near the clock and select playback devices. In the playback tab select your headset and click the set default button. Windows should now use the headset as default playback device whenever it is plugged in and revert to X-Fi whenever it is not.

Sorry for the delayed answer, but it took me some time to figure out the reason for this issue and it looks like that it was an incompatibility of Freespace with the new headset. When I bought and installed it Freespace and FSO was already imstalled. Your advice also didn't work, because Freespace simply ignored the setting of the headset being the standard output device. So I tried a reinstall of my old FS2 together with FSO and everything that comes with it without success.

So I tried something more risky and deinstalled everything again. Then I bought FS2 on gog.com, installed it again with FSO and see there it works now. I can't say for sure what the reason for my old FS2 version had not to recognize the proper standard output device and I'm sure this isn't the perfect solution, but it helped and I can play whenever I want now.

I also tried the wxlauncher instead of the Windows launcher and that also worked on my old installation, but that launcher is yet still too much in an alpha or beta phase and not really of any practical use for me, so I decided to abandon it and go the other way which was risky, but helpfull.
